SINKHOLE. DATES. GOAT.

…and other wonderful locations, courtesy of what3words

As a practical measure of pinpointing and sharing locations, the what3words app is already a triumph, thanks to its neat idea of breaking the planet down into tiny grid squares, each with a unique three-word code. But now it has a new feature: Shared Lists, in which users can store and share lists of their favourite walking routes. So instead of having to navigate to a grid reference or an unnamed street or layby, you can just aim for the what3words tag. Here are their five most popular walks in the New Forest National Park, as compiled from users’ Shared Lists…

1 Buckland ///fulfilled.gladiator.corkscrew Rings Trail (6.8 miles/11km) START:

2 Beaulieu Food Trail (4.4 miles/7km) START: ///cheetahs.swerving.mammoth

3 Boldre Village Walk (4.3 miles/7km) START: ///sinkhole.dates.goat

4 Brook to Minstead (7.2 miles/11.6km) START: ///reframe.sweetener.buzzards

5 Lymington Marshes Trail (3.7 miles/9km) START: ///lives.notion.calendars

You can download the what3words app from your usual app platform (it’s free), and start a list by going to ‘Saved Locations’ on the menu icon.

I WANT SOME OF THOSE…

Keen already excel at comfy boots, but their latest innovation is something special. The new Ridge Flex boot (£155) and shoe (£145) include panels of tough but flexible TPU above the forefoot and behind the heel. Dubbed Keen.Bellows.Flex, these panels work like an accordion, giving extra flex to the boot (and to your foot) which will boost your stride, while also reinforcing the areas of fabric that are the most likely to crack.
