MOUNTAIN RAILWAYS
Wales, with its wealth of rocks and minerals, is home to many other mountain lines such as the lovely, steam-powered Brecon Mountain Railway, which once carried coal to the coast, and the Vale of Rheidol railway, which transported silver and lead across Ceredigion. The rack-and-pinion Snowdon Mountain Railway however, was built purely for sight-seeing, and still delivers visitors who can’t climb the flanks of Snowdon to its summit.
