4 COOL POOLS

-

Isle of Skye Sian Lewis, travel writer

Skye takes its name from the old Norse Sky-a, meaning cloud, and the island’s mercurial weather can live up to its name even in midsummer. But its velvety moors, pastel painted villages, craggy mountains and white sand beaches are worth the pilgrimage. I would wild camp and then hike to the foot of the Black Cuillin mountains to find the Fairy Pools, deep stone lagoons fed by waterfalls. A dip in their clear waters feels like bathing in the portal to an elfin world.
