I am working on a book project that is taking me to some wonderful places. Recently I went in a campervan to the beautiful islands of Barra and the Uists. It was a dream that came true to travel to this most northerly outpost. I camped wild on the beach under impossibly starry skies, surfed pristine waters, hiked empty landscapes and explored ruins and stone circles. Along the way I saw seabirds, dolphins and seals and enjoyed a close encounter with an otter. I was down wind with no camera (typical) so was able to watch him for five minutes before he saw me. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
