CHIRK AQUEDUCT Wrexham
The companion aqueduct to Pontcysyllte, Chirk Aqueduct is the older and smaller sibling, completed in 1801. Designed by Telford and Jessop, its 10 arches lift the Llangollen canal 20m above the Ceiriog river in a cast-iron trough. Its 220m length crosses the England-Wales border.
