I grabbed my boots and pulled them over cold toes, gazing into the vast, emerald gullet of Glen Tilt as I tethered my laces. Rain had fallen through the night, drawing the earthy scent of peat and moss into the air, and to the east, not far from our tent, a herd of red deer grazed. This was my third boot test since joining the team, and I hoped not the last – there is little more rewarding than comfortable feet and mountains ahead (May 2017, issue 124).
