1 October Set in South Yorkshire, the show reveals the winner of this year’s Countryfile Photographic Competition and the Countryfile Young Farmer Award. 8 October A stately home turned to public use, the 18th-century Dumfries House now runs training courses in woodland skills, crafts and horticulture, among others. Countryfile exclusively interviews the Prince of Wales, who was instrumental in the house’s reinvention.

15 October A compilation programme on the power of nature marks 30 years since the Great Hurricane of 1987.

22 October In Cornwall, the four-day food festival ‘1,000 Mouths’ aims to feed 1,000 people at an organic farm.
