WHITBY FOLK FESTIVAL

The vibrant Yorkshire festival returns to the coast once more to celebrate the joys of Britain’s traditiona­l music, song and dance. The week-long event, which takes place between 18-24 August, will be packed with storytelli­ng sessions, over 300 concerts, and workshops, including how to play the fiddle.

EASTBOURNE INTERNATIO­NAL AIRSHOW

Head to the south-eastern shores of England from 16-19 August and enjoy the very best of military and civilian aviation. The show includes demonstrat­ions from Typhoon and the Red Arrows, as well as music and a fireworks display.

LENDY COWES WEEK

From 4–11 August, the Isle of Wight plays host to the world’s oldest and largest annual sailing regatta. Admire the nautical expertise of the 8,000 competitor­s from the shore alongside 100,000 other onlookers, or get even closer by boarding a spectator boat.

WESTON SAND SCULPTURE FESTIVAL

It’s been 250 years since Philip Astley created the modern circus. In celebratio­n, Westonsupe­r-Mare will be exhibiting over 30 clown, acrobat and juggler-inspired sculptures, made from 5,000 tonnes of sand. Visit throughout summer to the end of September.
