Theatrical coast

Where else can you find an open air theatre hanging over a perfect beach,

- asks Sue Kittow

Porthcurno, Cornwall

Porthcurno’s crushed seashell sands, turquoise waters and tall, sheltering cliffs make this exquisite beach perfect for families. Enjoy a play at the open-air Minack Theatre, built into the cliffs above the beach in the early 1930s by Rowena Cade, or visit Porthcurno’s Telegraph Museum and discover Cornwall’s part in pioneering global communications. Logan Rock’s 80-tonne granite stone is a 30-minute walk away, or you can stroll over the fields to Porthgwarra Cove and visit the 12th-century church at St Levan, before returning on the coast path.
