to go out on a bad note with a loss.”

City travel to London Road tomorrow looking to end a dismal seven game run of defeats – a tough task against a Posh side who have lost just one of their last 11 matches.

Reflecting on his five month loan spell, McCann admits it hasn’t gone to plan both personally and in terms of the team’s progress, but remains optimistic that the club can avoid the drop to League Two.

“I love playing football and it was a good move for me at the time,” he said. “It’s a good club with good people and good players and we’re just going through a tough spell at the minute.

“I’m confident they can pull away from trouble. They have a good manager in charge and there’s no reason why. I will follow them from afar but I still have a job to do on Saturday when we can hopefully get a win.” SKY Blues defender Chris Stokes is close to a first-team return after ten frustrating months on the sidelines.

Manager Russell Slade told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire yesterday: “Chris has been out on the grass today. I’ve spoken to the physio at length about Chris.

“It’s a daily thing with him because it’s a different kind of injury – it’s nerve related and sometimes that can flare up out of nowhere – but it seems to be getting more positive.

“He’s the type of player we’d love to have back in the group training and playing that’s for sure.”

Asked about the state of the rest of the squad, , Slade added: “Nothing major, one or two niggles - which you get at this time of year. Lewis Page had a slight strain so we’ve left him out today.

“Jordan Willis as well, we’re just monitoring those with minor injuries – I don’t see any concerns for Saturday.”
