A NUNEATON singer has received praise from Take That’s Gary Barlow after gigs across the town.

Jordan Charles, appeared on BBC’s talent show Let it Shine on Saturday night, auditioning to be a boyband member in an upcoming musical.

And he impressed the judges, making it through to the next round.

The singer, who honed his talents on stages and in pubs across Nuneaton and Bedworth, grew up in Attleborough.

The former Milverton House Primary School pupil started his showbiz career at the tender age of four by winning a certificate for reciting a poem about a chicken in the Nuneaton Festival of Arts competition.

He went on to train at Judith Vardy Studios in Abbey Green and performed at the Abbey Theatre in Nune- aton and Civic Hall in Bedworth. Even when he moved away university, he would travel back to play gigs at pubs such as The Railway Tavern.

“I’m a Nuneaton boy through and through,” he said.

“I spent all my childhood summers riding my bike in Riversley Park and had my 11th birthday party in that out- door swimming pool before they covered it over.” I’ll be coming to back home to watch my audition with my mum and a big slice of Victoria Sponge cake.”

While the world of television is something new for Jordan, he is no stranger to the limelight as award-winning choir director and vocalist.

He has been singing, songwriting, directing choirs and writing musicals for more than five years.

Only recently, Jordan released his debut single BEAST, which was viewed over 1,000 times an hour when it was first released.

Jordan has been working hard to follow his dreams for years, scraping together the money to fly to He hope his appearance on ‘Let it Shine’ will be another success story to make his family proud.

“This is an incredible opportunity! I still haven’t taken it all in, to be honest,” he said.

“I get a massive shock every time I see myself on the telly. My friends and I watched the first episode together and everyone kept cheering whenever I appeared on screen...even if it was just for a second! Meeting Gary Barlow and Amber Riley is without a doubt the most nerve racking thing I’ve ever done. I didn’t need to worry, though. They were both lovely in the end.”
