Your Life Vital transport for rural communities

-

GROUPS needing help getting from A to B now have a vital transport lifeline.

Warwickshire Rural Community Council has brought its community transport project to Rugby.

The Back & 4th service is ideal for charities, schools, senior citizen clubs and rurally-isolated groups. The not-for-profit service helps alleviate the lack of adequate public transport affecting those living in villages around Rugby.

The 15 and 16-seater minibuses are wheelchair accessible and are available at subsidised rates for all sorts of travel such as meetings, social events and days out to places of interest.

Speaking from the new Back & 4th depot at Rugby’s Sir Frank Whittle Business Centre, service manager Paul Hinks said: “This new project can make a very positive difference to people’s lives, especially in our local villages.

“For many it will be an important practical lifeline and it can also help bring people together for Paul Hinks, service manager for the WRCC Back & 4th project in Rugby some fun times out.

“We’re all ready to go and very much looking forward to working with community groups in and around Rugby, as well as recruit- ing volunteer drivers with D1 entitlement, who will receive full training and be paid expenses”.

Caroline Leighton, chief executive at Citizens Advice Coventry, said: “We’re very excited to be launching this muchneeded new way of accessing the Big Difference Scheme. The brilliant thing about the scheme is that it recognises you don’t have to be in receipt of benefits, or even in debt, to be struggling to make ends meet.”

So far in the 2016/17 financial year, 1,794 Coventry and Warwickshire households have received support to apply for the Big Difference Scheme.
