Search is on for former Standard Triumph staff

If so, Nick Price from Coventry needs your help to fill a new directory with names and memories of former staff.
Nick has always loved the early 948cc Triumph Heralds, having owned each of the styles. “It’s a convertible I currently enjoy pottering around in,” he explained. He had been following a website that documented 948cc Heralds when he noticed many comments from original owners would include when they, or someone they knew, worked at ‘The Standard’ or ‘The Triumph Works’.
“Living just a stone’s throw from the factory sites, driving about in my own Herald; half the people I seem to meet say, ‘I GRACE Academy Coventry’s Key Stage 4 basketball team are celebrating a silver medal win after representing Coventry East in the Level 3 County Final School Games Festivals.
The team competed against eight other schools in Coventry to represent the area in the Level 3 games, involving schools from across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire.
David Calapinmany, Year 11, one of the winning Key Stage 4 basketballers who now plays at National League level, said: “I like to support my teammates to be better players. I encourage them to practice mornings and lunchtimes, and to play for a club out of school.”

As Coventry East champions I need to encourage more students to take up basketball so that we can play here again.”
PE teacher Marcus Garvey, from Grace Academy Coventry, who also coaches Coventry’s Tornadoes Basketball Club, added: “It is great that our team were Coventry finalists when we the tool shop or the futuristsounding Rocket Range; and I find it all so fascinating!”
Nick felt these stories deserved to be doumented, so he created TriumphWorks.co.uk have so few students that play at National League level, or have considerable experience of competitive games in Coventry.
“We have one of the top teams in Warwickshire and competing encourages our teams to play at their best level. We provide a fun environment where students can practice key skills including coordination and patience to learn the technical aspects of the game.” database. “Despite the strikes, the uncertainty and ultimately the complete redundancy of every employee, these ex-workers look back with such fondness of a family atmosphere and ‘the best days of my life’,” he said.
“The stories are quite uplifting, often speaking of great cars, great pay and great times.”

The build is due to start this summer but the scouts are still appealing for help to raise the shortfall. A cheque for £2,900 was recently presented to group Scout leader Bob Tabb from the Solihull Rotary Club.
Mr Tabb said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of local people and businesses. The funding already received means that we can get the basic structure built this summer.”
