We’re on our way to Wembley

TICKETS FOR COVENTRY CITY’S BIG FINAL GO ON SALE ON MONDAY

-

TICKETS for Coventry City’s Check a trade Trophy final at Wembley go on sale on Monday, with season ticket holders getting the chance to buy up to six tickets each.

That has met with a mixed reception, with some City fans angry that season ticket holders could snap up 36,000 seats at the national stadium, potentially leaving some supporters without a ticket.

Ticket prices for the trip to Wembley have been confirmed – with adult prices ranging from £20 to £60. There will be a priority sale from 9am on Monday for season ticket holders and remaining tickets will go on general sale on Monday, March 13.

Sky Blues fans should be allocated between 20,000 and 40,000 tickets in the West End of the stadium as the club returns to Wembley 30 years after the FA Cup win over Tottenham in 1987.

Any initial allocation could be topped up if there is extra demand for tickets.

City will face either Oxford United or Luton Town in the final on Sunday, April 2, at 2.30pm, after beating Wycombe 2-1 in a tense semi-final victory at the Ricoh Arena last week.

Ticket sales: From Monday, 9am: Season ticket holders and Private Seat Licence holders.

From Monday, March 6, 9am: JSB Members and match Package Holders.

From Wednesday, March 8, 9am: Fans who have attended a previous home game this season, in any competition, prior to Wednesday March 8 (up to and including the Gillingham and Swindon Town fixtures).

From Monday, March 13, 9am: General sale

Some supporters have questioned the value of the competition in a season when relegation is looking more likely every week. But the Telegraph’s Andy Turner has said that the fans deserve a day out at Wembley.

Here’s a selection of their comments from social media site Twitter and from our website.

@tomfrancis1993: People complaining about 6 tickets per season ticket, do you not have any mates who can get you one? Also what happened to NOPM?

@scott1694: Didn’t see anyone moaning that it was 6 per season ticket holder for any other game this season?

@euan_rowe: Hahaha 6 Wembley tickets per season ticket. Me and my Dad will get 12 and I’ll sell 10 at £100 each.

@elky9487: total disregard for the few hundred that went all the way to Swansea then?

@davidpercival42: glad im a season ticket holder at coventry city that’s 12 tickets for me and my family.

@curlyrach76: what about away ticket stubs for trophy final tix? We don’t live in Cov anymore but go to local away games?

@Mark_R_Woods: six tickets per ST holder is extraordinary - potentially 36k of 40k allocation - tout’s dream.

covadam22: Yes I was foolish to buy a season ticket for myself and my son in the hope that it would bring us some good times! Unfortunately it’s not turned out as I hoped and I certainly won’t be renewing next season. A day out at Wembley though for him, especially if we win will be priceless.

skyblueboy: I have no problem with them rewarding season tickets, although I think 4 per ST holder would have been better. I hope genuine City fans get the tickets.

Moving 2 Ricoh Disaster: The Sky Blues have a core of around 7 - 8,000 supporters, which will reduce to less than 5,000 next season following relegation. Whatever your views are on the current state of the club, it’s indisputable that this Checkatrade trophy is at best, meaningless. It’s a strange irony that some three to four times the average home crowd will travel about 90 miles on a day trip to Wembley, and the majority of these extra people have never felt the need to travel a few miles to watch the team locally.

Isitjustme: Never mind the black market this will create, as long as they get their money eh? Let’s see how many of the ‘extra’ fans are providing them with revenue in the fourth division next season.
