Man burnt on face with cigarette during attack in alleyway

A MAN was burnt on the face with a cigarette and hit over the head during a robbery in Rugby.

The victim was approached by two men while walking down an alleyway from Wentworth Road towards Firs Drive on Saturday February 4 at around 2pm.

One of the men, who had a tattoo under his eye, is said to have pinned the man against the fence and pulled out a craft style knife.

The victim received a small cut to his arm during a struggle.

The second offender hit the victim on his head with a piece of wood making him fall to the ground.

One of the men also burnt the victim’s face with a cigarette.

During the attack the victim’s wallet, which contained £200, was stolen.

He was treated at hospital and released.

A spokesman for Warwickshi­re Police said: “The first offender was white, early 30s, about 6ft tall, of stocky build and was wearing a woollen hat. He had a tattoo under his eye.

“The second offender was white, early 30s, about 5ft 10ins tall, of large build, wearing a blue hooded top with white stripes and sand coloured boots.

“Both men were described as having Eastern European accents.”
