Booze worth £600 stolen

TWO men travelled from Birmingham to steal over £600 worth of alcohol from a Coventry wholesaler­s.

Sean Ellis and Aaron French were found guilty of nicking the huge amount of booze from the giant Costco store, in Canley.

The pair, who are both 23, were given unpaid work as a punishment - Ellis handed 100 hours and French give 60 hours.

Ellis, of Little Pitts Close, Erdington, and French, of Roughley Farm Road, Sutton Coldfield, were both ordered to pay £312 compensati­on, £100 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge for the incident, which happened on June 10 last year.

Other cases at Coventry Magistrate­s Court on Tuesday, January 24, included:

Dominic Abbey, 35, of Withybrook­e Close, Wood End, admitted a breach of the peace. He was bound over to the sum of £100.

Paul Cooper, 33, of Roland Avenue, Holbrooks, admitted stealing chocolates worth £12 from Whitmore Park Post Office. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £12 compensati­on, £45 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Nicola Miller, 40, of Torcastle Close, Foleshill, was found guilty of stealing a watch, tablet and camera worth £520 and fraud by false representa­tion. He was given a 12-month conditiona­l discharge and ordered to pay a total of £420 compensati­on, £75 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

David Price, 39, of Harnall Lane, Hillfields, admitted stealing deodorants worth £47 from Sainsbury’s and committing an offence while subject to a conditiona­l discharge. He was given an eight- week prison sentence suspended for six months and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Adam Rodger, 35, of Cherrybroo­k Way, Bell Green, admitted stealing a window cleaner worth £71 and an electronic scooter worth £89 from Tesco at Arena Park. He was given a community order including a drug rehabilita­tion requiremen­t, fined £15 and ordered to pay a £85 victim surcharge.

Callum Taylor, 26, of Epsom Drive, Willenhall, admitted driving while disqualifi­ed, failing to provide a specimen, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis and committing an offence while subject to a suspended sentence. He was sent to prison for eight weeks, banned from driving for two years and ordered to pay £60 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
