TRIBUTES FROM FRIENDS AFTER BIKER WAS IN COLLISION NEAR THE GRIFF ROUNDABOUT
TRIBUTES have been paid online to a man who was killed in a motorbike crash in Nuneaton.
Named locally as Jamie Styles, the keen rugby player was knocked from his bike on the A444 Coventry Road, near the Griff island, at around 7.30pm on Tuesday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Yesterday, the rugby club he played for paid a heartfelt tribute to Mr Styles. Manor Park RFC wrote on its Facebook page: “Today we are heartbroken. As a club we are united in grief and support for the family of our departed teammate.”
Mr Styles, who is believed to have been in his late 20s, was riding a blue Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorbike when it collided with a bronze-coloured Renault Kangoo car.
The driver of the Kan- goo, a woman in her 30s, was taken to hospital with a leg injury and a minor cut to the head.
The club is meeting today at the Griff and Coton Sports Club for a drink in Jamie’s memory.
Old school pal Lewis Sketchley wrote on Facebook: “RIP Jamie Styles. It’s extremely hard to write something like this, especially at our age. We may have lost touch since school, but you were my best mate for all those school years, and I’ll hold on to all those great memories forever!”
Jon Hall paid tribute on his page, writing: “RIP Jamie Styles, top bloke who’s going be sorely missed. Thoughts and prayers to his family.”
Neighbouring rugby club Burbage RFC passed on their condolences on their Facebook page, saying: “Thoughts go out to Manor Park RFC, after hearing the sad news of their back row player, Jamie Styles, who passed away. Thoughts go to Jamie’s family and friends.”
Warwickshire Police are looking for witnesses who saw the crash to come forward.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw either of the vehicles, and the manner in which they were being driven, before the crash happened.
