THE mum of a “beautiful young man” who died after a car accident has fulfilled her son’s wish and had a personal message off music star Stormzy.

Kelly Simms’ Facebook post to grime artist Stormzy had more than 600 shares and nearly 1,000 likes in an attempt for her message in memory of son Breon Levi Simms to reach him.

Breon died on Febru- ary 8, 19 days after a car crash in Bell Green on January 21, and three days after his passing, mum Kelly started the social media campaign.

She said Breon was his number one fan and that the artist was a massive part of their life.

Her post on February 11 to Stormzy’s official Facebook page read: “This is probably a very long long shot but my beautiful boy passed away on the 8/2/2017.

“Breon Simms, he was your number one fan and loved everything about you.

“You were a massive part of our household while he was with us.

“It would mean so much to me if you could please private message me as I have something I need to ask of you. Kind regards Kelly.”

The post was shared 656 times and had 975 likes.

A video was even posted by a friend of the family, Brett Neal, who filmed himself appealing to everyone to share the video and the post so Breon could have the “send off he deserves”.

Some of the 45 second video says: “This is just so they can give him the send off he deserves, let’s see if we can get in touch with him and to make a bad situation a bit more brighter.”

It took just a day for the message to reach him, and Kelly’s wish for Breon was granted.

She posted on her social media a little over 18 hours after the original post to Stormzy that the messages had made it to him. She said: “Thank you to everyone who shared my post to Stormzy, it made it to him and he has offered his personal condolences. We did it son.”

That post alone got more than 1,000 likes and 322 shares.

Tributes have been pouring in for the 18-year-old who passed away in hospital after the crash.

One message on Facebook read: “So very sad to learn of this. I will always remember Breon’s beautiful smile,” while another poster wrote: “So very sorry for the loss of your beautiful son! My thoughts are with you all!”

Another person on Facebook told how they were “absolutely heartbroken” for Breon’s family. They added: “Breon is

beautiful, gorgeous a young man, his wonderful smile says it all. [He] will be always dearly missed.”

Yesterday, Breon’s family also paid tribute, saying: “It is with great sadness in our hearts that the family of Breon Levi Simms need to share that he passed away on February 8 2017 in the Critical Care Unit of University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

“Following a road traffic accident Breon spent 19 days in the care of doctors and nursing staff and sadly died at the tender age of 18.

“The family would request that at this time of sadness they are given privacy to grieve for Breon and to remember precious moments and celebrate a wonderful life.”

Stormzy’s reps have been contacted for comment.
