Woman had knives in public

A WOMAN has been given a suspended prison sentence for having three kitchen knives in a public place.

Kay Jones pleaded guilty to having the blades in public on January 12 when she appeared at Coventry Magistrate­s’ Court.

Jones, 28, of Blenhiem Avenue, Holbrooks, also admitted two counts of stealing groceries worth a total of £55 from Spar in October last year and breaching a community order by failing to attend court.

She was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for a year, ordered to take part in a drug rehabilita­tion requiremen­t, pay £55 compensati­on to Spar and a £115 victim surcharge.

Other cases at Coventry Magistrate­s Court on Thursday, January 26, included:

Ryan Callan, 22, of Dyas Avenue, Birmingham, admitted failing to stop at the scene of an accident in Barton Road, Coventry, and driving without a licence or insurance. He had 10 points endorsed on his driving licence, was fined £282 and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Radivioj Durdevic, 63, of Iden Road, Hillfields, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath. He had 10 points endorsed on his driving licence, was fined £120 and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Christophe­r White, 26, of Whitmore Park Road, Holbrooks, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath and driving without insurance, He was banned from driving for three years, given 150 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.
