Arrest: Cannabis found at home of man wanted for crimes abroad

-

A MAN wanted on a European arrest warrant was found with a cannabis growing bible after arousing the suspicions of officers in Nuneaton.

A number of plants were also found at a property in Bracebridge Street after police were alerted to the man’s presence in the town centre - before a report of an assault was made.

Once at the house, members of Nuneaton Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) discovered a book entitled ‘The Cannabis Growing Bible’ and the plants which were said to be in a “poor state”.

A spokesperson for the SNT said: “He was tracked by CCTV to Bracebridge Street where he was spotted from a distance before disappearing.

“Wet footprints were found in an alley leading to an address. Response team officers joined local SNT shortly after.

“The male came to the door and was subsequently arrested, by D shift response, on suspicion of assault and a short struggle then followed.

“Whilst inside the address, a small amount of cannabis plants were found growing in a poor state in the bedroom cupboard.

“Further enquiries found the male was shown wanted on a European extradition warrant. A female was also arrested for cultivation of cannabis.”

The spokesperson added: “Judging by the literature found they haven’t been following chapter and verse.”
