TOM Clarke will celebrate the tenth anniversary of The Enemy’s debut album at this year’s Godiva Festival.

The city rock band announced they would part ways back in April.

But lead singer Clarke is set to head back out on the road for a string of acoustic shows to celebrate their We’ll Live and Die in These Towns album.

And Clarke is set to perform on Saturday night in the Rhythm Tent at the three-day bash in War Memorial Park.

The tour will feature Tom performing songs from the album in an acoustic set, with the Godiva Festival appearance set to be the last stop of Tom’s solo tour.

Tom said: “In June I will be taking to the road to celebrate 10 years since the release of We’ll Live & Die In These Towns by playing the record in its entirety, completely unplugged.

“The shows are pretty much all sold out and it’s looking like it’ll be an unforgettable tour, I can’t wait.

“It hasn’t escaped a lot of people’s attention that there was no Coventry date announced for the June tour, you didn’t really think I’d celebrate the debut’s 10-year anniversary and leave Coventry out though did you?

“This year also marks 10 years since The Enemy first played at Godiva Festival, so it’s amazing to be able to announce that I’ll be performing a full unplugged set at the festival to end the run of dates on the anniversary tour.

“I have some unforgettable memories from playing Godiva over the years and I can’t think of a better way to close the tour than a free gig in the heart of Coventry.

“It’ll be in the tent, so the sound will be good and it doesn’t matter if it rains, come along for free and join me in celebrating an amazing decade in the heart of the city where it all began.

Lee House, the council’s events manager, said: “We know that there’s lots of love for Tom in Coventry and it’s good to be able to invite Tom back to play to play an acoustic set to celebrate the success of Tom and The Enemy within Coventry.”

This announcement follows the confirmation that The Stranglers will headline on Friday night, while The Darkness will headline on Sunday evening.

Saturday’s main stage headliner and other acts including rock acts for the Friday Rock Tent will be announced soon.

Coventry Godiva Festival, which remains the UK’s biggest free family music festival, will take place on 7-9 July in the War Memorial Park in Coventry.
