BRITS are racking up a whopping 224 million ‘Gym Bag Miles’ a week – the equivalent of travelling to the moon – according to new findings from Virgin Active (virginactive.co.uk).

The health club quizzed 2,000 people and found, on average, Brits leave the house three times a week, gym bag in tow, with best intentions of fitting in a workout, only to return home later with clean, unworn kit.

This amounts to an average 16 miles each a day, toting those gym bags around unnecessarily.

Excuses included: being too tired or stressed after work (35%); running late at work (32%); being talked into going to the pub (16%), and wanting to go home and watch TV because it’s dark (8%).
