Police hunt continues after high-speed chase
POLICE are still hunting for a man who led officers on a high-speed chase which ended in a head-on crash in Bedworth.
The driver ran from the scene with police hot on his heels on Tuesday morning, while the innocent driver of the other car in the collision was taken to hospital.
The smash happened in Bulkington Road, near to Nicholas Chamberlaine School, after a Ford Focus had sped away from police on the M6 at junction three.
The chase went through Nuneaton and was shortly abandoned because of bad driving, but then restarted through Bedworth.
It came to a dramatic end when the grey Focus smashed in to a Mercedes estate at the junction of Bulkington Road and Columbia Gardens.
The driver of the Focus then clambered out and fled on foot.
Warwickshire Police told the Telegraph this afternoon that he is still at large.
The Mercedes driver - a 52-yearold man - was put on a spinal board at the scene and taken to hospital after suffering back pain.
The road was closed for several hours while the accident investigators and police dogs worked at the scene to gather evidence.
