Wasps’ Miller to kick off 10k run

-

WASPS star Rob Miller will help get the Wright Hassall Regency 10k Run under way this weekend.

The Leamington run, which takes place on Sunday, has already seen more than 2,000 people sign up for the event.

Full-back Rob Miller, who joined Wasps from Sale Sharks in 2014, will start the race at 9am.

This year’s event, and the Regency 1km Kids Fun Run which follows at 10.30am, has a special significance as it coincides with a landmark celebration for organisers Leamington Round Table, which is commemorating 70 years since it was founded.

The Wright Hassall Regency 10k Run has raised over £250,000 for local causes in the past 12 years and is expected to raise more than £25,000 in 2017.

Mark Chambers, president of Leamington Round Table, said: “We’re delighted that Rob Miller has accepted our offer to start this year’s run. It’s great that Wasps are out in the community supporting events like this.

“Wasps have really embraced the community since moving to the area and I know a lot of the guys live in the Leamington area – where a lot of the money we raise will be donated to local charities and other causes.

“The 2017 run is gearing up to be our biggest yet.”

Leamington solicitors Wright Hassall are the main sponsors of the run. Hannah Carey, from Wright Hassall, said: “The event is so good for the Leamington community, not only does it raise a significant amount of money for charity but it really does bring everyone together.

“We can’t wait for the day and to present the fastest finishers with the prizes at the end of the race..”
