Your Life Running in honour of ‘incredible’ Ilona

- Chris Adams with Ilona Holland

A RUNNER is taking on a marathon to raise funds for Myton Hospice in memory of a Bishop’s Tachbrook woman.

Chris Adams, from Bangor in Northern Ireland, will tackle the gruelling 26.2 mile London Marathon in the capital on Sunday, April 23.

He is running in memory of his girlfriend’s late grandmother, Ilona Holland, who passed away at the hospice in Warwick last October aged 84.

Chris, 28, a journalist who now lives in Prestwich, Greater Manchester, with Ilona’s granddaughter Rebecca White, 27, has set a fundraising target of £800.

He said: “The staff at the hospice in Warwick provided incredible care to Ilona in the last few months of her life last year.

“Their compassion and support was particularly appreciated by Ilona’s loving husband, Andre, her daughter Helen White, and son-in-law Rob.

“She was an incredible woman who bravely battled cancer for some time, whose bright spirit stayed with her right to the end.

“I ran my first marathon last year in three hours, 33 minutes and 22 seconds so I’ll be aiming to beat that this time and hopefully raise a decent sum for a very deserving cause. I know hundreds of families from Warwickshire have benefited from the tremendous work the hospice does, and hopefully my fundraising can go some way to continuing that.”
