Man left fighting for life

A COVENTRY man was left fighting for his life after he was hit by a car and assaulted in Atherstone.

Three men have been arrested after the incident which left the 26-year-old victim with serious injuries.

Cars were blocked from driving down Manor Road in Atherstone after the man was injured in the road at around 9.25pm on Saturday.

Reports suggest that a black Audi hit a man who was then assaulted as he lay in the street.

A black Audi A3 was later found on fire nearby.

The victim was left in a critical condition in hospital.

A 38-year-old man, 33-year-old man and a 55-year-old man, all from Atherstone, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

They have all been bailed until April while investigat­ions continue.

Det Insp Neil Reader, of Warwickshi­re Police, said: “This was an extremely serious inci- dent that has left a young man with very serious injuries. The incident attracted a lot of attention locally and we’re keen to speak to anyone who witnessed it or has any other informatio­n that could help.”
