KOI carp, cars and jewellery have been stolen in burglaries across Nuneaton.

There has recently been a rise in the number of burglaries in Nuneaton, Bedworth and North Warwickshire with thieves taking a particular interest to cars.

Homes have been ransacked in a number of break-ins around the area, with thieves making off with all sorts of valuable items – including 14 Koi Carp from the garden pond of a home in Nuneaton.

They were not the only pets terrorised in the area either as a dog was locked outside in a burglary in Atherstone on Friday.

Bet ween 5pm and 6pm, the thieves forced open a kitchen window at the home in Friary Road, causing severe damage to the window frame. Once inside the home, they locked the family’s dog outside and stole cash and an ipad. Last week, police said they were investigating a spate of burglaries in Bedworth and said that the rise had also been seen in Nuneaton and surrounding areas. dow at a home in Meadow Road last Monday during the day, burglars pinched several items including the key to a Ford Fiesta which they used to steal the car from outside.

In nearby Galley Common, another car was stolen on Thursday from a house in Chesterton Drive.

Burglars broke into the home during the night after breaking the lock off a side gate, making their way into the garden and forcing the back doors open to get into the kitchen. They stole a wallet containing cash and a set of house and car keys which made it possible for them to steal a Mini from the driveway.

Other items stolen from homes in Nuneaton include a mobile phone, a drill, a Pandora bracelet and jewellery.
