Egg -cellent Easter fun

-

ASK any child – or adult – what they love about Easter and, chances are, they’ll say the chance to eat loads of scrummy chocolate eggs.

But there are lots of fantastic and fun things to do with eggs – as well as eating them – and all of which provide hours of entertainment for the family.

YOU CAN ROLL EGGS

YOU will need a hard boiled egg per person (plain or decorated), and then you create a start and finish line.

The length of the distance will depend on the ages. Then line everyone up on their hands and knees and get them to roll the egg from start to finish – using their noses!

It will depend on the age of the children as to how far apart you make these. Younger children will get fed up if they have to roll the egg too far.

The winner is the one to reach the end without touching the egg with their hands.

ORGANISE AN EASTER EGG HUNT

SMALL or larger eggs are perfect for this chocolate treasure hunt. And all you need are bowls in which children can collect eggs in, bits of paper and imagination to create clues.

Hide the eggs in various places either inside or outside, depending on the weather. If you have younger kids, make some of them easy to find. For older children, why not hide Easter egg hunt clues for them to solve which lead them to their prize. GUESS THE NUMBER OF EGGS IN A JAR EASY peasy but good fun and you’ll be amazed at how competitive everyone is.

Fill a jar with as many Easter eggs as will fit – you can mix the sizes to make it more difficult – and ask everyone to put ideas as to how many are there on a piece of paper and ask them to fold it or put it into an envelope. Nearest one either wins the jar or a special prize (then everyone gets to enjoy what’s in the jar). EASTER EGG AND SPOON RACE AS WITH the traditional game, use a hard boiled egg or raw eggs if you’re brave enough, you’ll need a large spoon for each person and, again a start and finish line.

When the race starts each player runs towards the finish line trying to keep their egg on the spoon.

The winner is the first to reach the finish line with their egg on their spoon.
