MUM BROUGHT TO TEARS BY SIX-YEAR-OLD’S CARE AND CONCERN FOR HER ‘LITTLE LIVE WIRE’

- By CATHERINE LILLINGTON Families Reporter catherine.lillington@trinitymirror.com

A BOY brought his mum to tears when he showed her a bedtime story he wrote to help his little brother who is being diagnosed with autism.

Natalie Benson’s six-year-old son Lucas always knows what his brother Archie, two, needs whether it’s playing together in the garden or bringing their duvets downstairs to watch Disney movies

o when Lucas wrote ‘ The Magic Chimney’ he wanted it to raise money to get help for Archie who he would love to be able to talk so they can have “chats at bedtime”.

Natalie, from Wolston, Warwickshire, explained how Lucas spent about six hours writing the story to sell to family and friends.

She said: “He has made me cry telling me and has showed me once again how lucky I am to have him.”

Archie, who Natalie describes as a “little live wire”, is going to start nursery in a few weeks. Natalie, who’s 29 and works at Coombe Abbey Hotel, said: “Even with Archie having a diagnosis he is still going to be our smiley happy little boy. All we want is the knowledge, help and support he needs and deserves to live a happy life.”

Lucas said: “All I want is for my little Archie to get all the help he needs and I would really like him to be able to talk so we can have chats at bedtime. Hopefully any money I can raise will help him.”

The family have set up a Just Giving page online in support of the National Autistic Society and so far £1,340 has been raised, smashing a £1,000 target. Natalie said: “Lucas is the sweetest boy and has the kindest heart, he adores his little brother Archie. All Lucas talks about is becoming an author when he grows up and this story he has written is incredible. “Lucas and Archie are like twins but born four-and-a-half years apart. We call them our tag team because they are always together. Lucas is amazing with Archie, he always knows what he needs .and is always there to help him. “Lucas is a sweet and caring little boy with a heart of gold, he would always try and help others and always put their needs first. “Archie is a little live wire, he loves to climb, jump and he runs everywhere. They both love playing out in the garden together and one of their favourite times is bringing their duvets downstairs and watching Disney movies together.” You can support the family’s appeal online http://www.justgiving.com/ LucasBenson?utm_id=26
