NEW APP HELPS PEOPLE FIND NEAREST CASH MACHINEE

A CASH machine locator app showing where all the Link network’s 70,000 ATMs are in the UK has been launched.

The app is accessible for visually impaired people and uses voiceover technology and enables people looking for their nearest ATM to filter the results to suit their needs.

It will show, for example, how close someone is to ATMs that provide audio assistance for people who are blind or partially sighted, cash machines that dispense £5 notes, free-to-use ATMs, or those belonging to particular organisations such as the app user’s own bank.

But research compiled by Post Office Money and the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr) suggests the average bill across the UK is £1,829 higher, at £9,472.

PEOPLE NEED MONEY HELP AT KEY LIFE STAGES, SAYS CITIZENS ADVICE

HOUSEHOLDS need support to manage their finances at key life stages such as starting a family, according to Citizens Advice.

Gillian Guy, chief executive of Citizens Advice, says: “In the last year, Citizens Advice helped 350,000 people with debt issues, with the numbers of people unable to meet debts on essential bills outstripping those with consumer debts such as credit cards and loans.

“Changing life circumstances such as the loss of a job, getting married or starting a family can put pressure on people’s finances and mean they need to think differently about their income and outgoings.”
