City target Newton: I’m flattered, but no approach yet

A PROLIFIC non-league striker linked with Coventry City says he’s flattered by the interest but has not yet been approached.

Out-of-contract Tamworth star Danny Newton, who scored an outstandin­g 29 goals for the National League North side last season, has been scouted by the Sky Blues, while also watched by Wolves, Wigan, Grimsby Town and Portsmouth when

“But I haven’t heard anything personally.

“I am just focusing on taking part in the V9 Academy, keeping myself as fit as possible. I think the important thing from my point of view is to keep my feet on the ground.

“I am not getting carried away. I just need to keep working hard and just do what I do.”
