Sport Greenway wants to see Wasps fire against Dragons

- By ROB MILNE Player coach Tamsin Greenway

WASPS Netball are looking to confirm their Final Four play-off spot with the slaying of Celtic Dragons tomorrow afternoon.

Tamsin Greenway’s side travel to Cardiff to take on the Welsh club (4pm centre-pass), bidding to follow up their 62-40 victory over Dragons earlier this season at the Ricoh Arena.

Dragons sit bottom of the Vitality Netball Superleague, having secured only one win all season - which came against Sirens in April.

But Wasps’ Director of Netball Greenway stressed that these are the games her team needs to win if they want to be challenging at Final Four weekend.

Greenway said: “We have said all along that you need to beat the teams at the bottom, and if you want to be a contender these are the games you have to win.

“I hope that we go to Cardiff and put a solid performance in and prove what we are capable of, because if we don’t go there and play well we don’t deserve that place in the Final Four.

“I will be looking for more from my key players, my leaders out there on court.

“They have got to switch on when we feed information into them, make those changes out on the court and drive us forward when things aren’t quite clicking for us in games.

“We struggled to adapt in the game on Monday against Surrey Storm, but we did it very well against Loughborough Lightning and Manchester Thunder, so we know we are capable of switching things up when we have to.”

Wasps Netball are currently second in the Superleague, level on points with Manchester Thunder in third position and virtually assured of their Final Four spot.

“We will have to have a really bad couple of games to not make the top four now,” added Greenway.

“Of course, we want to win these next two games and go into the Final Four weekend with some momentum behind us.”

Following the clash with Celtic Dragons, Wasps Netball return to the Ricoh Arena to play Team Bath in their final fixture of the regular season on Saturday, June 3 (5pm centre-pass). Tickets start from £10 for adults while under-10s go free, and can be bought from www.waspsnetball.co.uk/tickets.
