Armed police at the Ricoh

-

ARMED police have been posted at the Ricoh Arena and staff have been told to remain “alert” as Britain’s security level remains at critical in the wake of the Manchester terror attack.

Visitors to the stadium are being made to undergo bag searches and body scans before being allowed on site. There are also restrictions on entrance points to the venue and all external bins and containers have been removed.

One person visiting the Arena reported restrictions on deliveries with all drop-offs having to be cleared with stadium bosses before being allowed onto the Judds Lane site.

Car park restrictions are also in force with car parks A, B and D closed to the general public.

Staff have been advised to follow guidelines of “run, hide, tell” if they are caught up in a terrorist incident. They have also been told to wear their ID at all times, not to leave doors open and to challenge people they do not know. Asked about the restrictions currently in force, and whether visitors should allow more time to get through security, a Ricoh Arena spokesman said they could not comment.
