-

A MAN has been remanded into custody after appearing in court charged with the attempted murder of a car salesman.

John Tuff will next appear at Warwick Crown Court after appearing at Leamington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm and conspiring to steal a motor vehicle.

He was also charged with another seven counts of conspiring to steal a motor vehicle in connection with alleged offences in Leicester and Coventry in December 2016 and January 2017.

The charges connect to an incident in January where a 51-year-old man was locked out of a car and mown down during a test drive.

He suffered life changing injuries to his leg, torso, head and back after being dragged ten metres down the road.

Tuff, 36, appeared alongside another man in court.

Matthew James Barker, 44, was charged with eight counts of conspiring to steal a motor vehicle.

The men, both from Market Harborough, have been remanded in custody until they are due to stand trial at Warwick Crown Court on June 21.
