Hoop Guy’s BGT departure

- By KATRINA CHILVER Nuneaton Reporter katrina.chilver@trinitymirror.com

DESPITE the backing of Nuneaton, the town’s very own Hoop Guy failed to make it through to the finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

John Parnell, 63, took to the stage live on ITV as part of the popular talent show’s semi-final.

His signature theme tune ‘Hoop Guy’ was once again played while he demonstrated his hula hooping skills.

He received a red buzzer from Simon Cowell not far into his performance and went on to demonstrate his talent with a flaming hula hoop.

In his first TV audition for the show, the judges commented on his catchy theme song.

Judge Alesha Dixon added her own rap to the song and for the live performance John sampled that and added it in.

After pressing her red buzzer just moments before, the former Misteeq singer looked shocked to hear her voice being used. Many members of the audience were impressed with John’s performance and took to their feet to applaud. David Walliams was a fan too, standing up and punching his fist in the air after the performance ended. When it came to the judges comments Simon was quick to sign Alesha up for a follow up performance. He said: “I will speak for Alesha, if you get through to the final, Alesha will be singing that song live.” Following that, cheers came from the audience and the other judges. Alesha was not impressed and put a halt to the possibility saying “no she will not!” When it came to the result, unfortunately, John did not make it through. He can still be seen wiggling his hips in Nuneaton town centre and also attending charity events and teaching others how to hula hoop themselves.
