No understanding of pressured infrastructure Why no response over country music?

-

ACCORDING To Mr Taylor, in his letter on Green Belt, Coventry’s population statistics are flawed. But are not the council’s traffic projections in the same boat? It seems that thousands of houses are to be built in Green Belt, within and outside Coventry’s borders, without a proper understanding of the pressures on the transport infrastructure. I live in Westwood Heath and every working day there is serious congestion on Westwood Heath Road and Cromwell Lane. Planners are in a fantasy world, believing that these roads can accommodate new residents, not only the 425 houses in Westwood Heath but up to another possible 1500 from land near to Tile Hill Station, Burton Green and Berkswell. It may well be that Coventry is not a top ten city but for sure it will maintain its position as the second most congested city after London! But the situation in Westwood Heath is going to get even worse. A new road has been agreed from the A46 to Westwood Heath Road which eventually will be linked up to the A45 or the A452. This third phase road has been something of a mystery but could it be that at last a clearer picture is emerging? In the document, Movement for Growth, 2026 Delivery Plan for Transport, two options are suggested.

One veers off to the right towards Eastern Green and the other seems to carry on towards the A452, perhaps on Westwood Heath Road.

Even more interesting is the possibility of a Very Light Railway from Warwick University to HS2 Interchange which could run in the middle reservation of the A46 Link or alongside roads.

For environmentalists, this could be exciting news but shouldn’t the public be consulted even in the early stages of the debate?

At present, this document is concealed by the planners who apparently will respond to the document by June 9 .

Isn’t democracy a wonderful thing? A Chabra, Westwood Heath,Coventry.

We must get the best deal for all

A Brexit ‘no deal is better than a bad deal’ and walking away is just a way of fooling the voters.

If you get up and walk away you have left with the same agreement of staying in the EU before you started the negotiations.

A good leader will negotiate the way through until they get the deal they want to suit both sides. That’s the way you go about getting a good deal, first you set your sights on what you want to achieve but at the same time look at the other sides view points and come to a compromise with a good settlement with both sides happy they have reached a good agreement.

This is why I think Labour have the right way of going about getting a good deal for both remain and leave. This will then bring the whole of the UK together to go about clinching world trade deals. Then other countries will look up to Britain as a country which deals fairly with the whole world. John Bevan, Binley A MONTH ago a letter about the Coventry Theatre brought forth a response from several readers. Sadly, more recently a letter headed Are Country Music Clubs Still Going? has been unanswered. Is this because there are none or because like those who remember Carl Perkins,Sonny Curtis and Albert Lee at the Stoker and Loretta Lynn at the Paris left it to others ?
