Eubank Jnr: I’m too good for Abraham

-

BOXING: CHRIS Eubank Jnr is adamant he will overcome Arthur Abraham on July 15, despite insisting he is a natural middleweight fighting beyond his weight division.

The 37-year-old Abraham, a veteran of numerous worldtitle defences at both middleweight and supermiddle, represents his most punishing opponent to date and has also never been stopped.

However, even after fighting at 168lbs when beating Renold Quinlan in February, the younger fighter says he risks being too small.

“Arthur Abraham is highlyregarded as a supermiddleweight; I’m a natural middleweight,” said 27-year-old Eubank Jnr ahead of their fight at Wembley Arena.

“I walk around at 12 stone, but my speed, determination and skill surpasses whatever Abraham has.

“But he’s had his time; it’s my time now.”

DIVING: OLYMPIC champions Jack Laugher and Chris Mears will target another major title as part of a 12-strong British diving team at the World Championships in Budapest next month.

The pair will go for gold again in the men’s 3m syncho event while Laugher will also target medals in the individual 3m and 1m springboard.

Laugher said: “What happened last year at the Olympics was a dream and I want to be able to show that I can continue to develop.”

Rio medallists Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow are also in the squad, while Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson return in the 10m synchro after competing in Brazil. The remainder of the squad is made up of debutants Ross Haslam, Grace Reid, Katherine Torrance, Robyn Birch, Matty Lee and James Heatly.
