WHAT’S a better thing to do on the weekend than treat yourself to some nice grub?

If you’re looking to pop into Nuneaton for a spot of lunch then there are plenty of places to choose from.

Here’s a selection of five independent businesses in the town, which offer tasty lunches.

This small independent cafe is approaching its first anniversary and it is going from strength to strength.

Business partners Charlotte Portlock and Amy Pittam opened Rhubarb & Mustard in August, refurbishing the old cafe in the craft centre in Avenue Road.

For lunch, there is a wide selection of sandwiches on offer, as well as salads, hot and cold food and homemade soup. If you’re looking for a bit more of a treat, they also sell ‘posh milkshakes’ and homemade cakes.

Charlotte and Amy are keen to support other local businesses and so they use Ringtons coffee from Peterborough, Steve Mellor and Daughter butchers’ meat from Weddington and bread from Gaytons Bakery in Atherstone.

In Galley Common on the edge of Nuneaton, this cafe offers different specials every week.

Full of Beans is a small cafe based in Hickman Road and it has a lot of food to choose from.

Jacket Potatoes, paninis and toasties are always on the menu and homemade soup is served up in winter.

There’s always a new special every week, some of which have been 8oz steak burgers, pulled pork and fish finger sandwiches. Molly’s is a new cafe in the town, which only opened earlier this year but is already proving to be very popular. Inside it’s not just your average cafe, there are old cinema seats, which can be seen in the shop window. One reviewer on Trip Advisor said that the Bridge Street cafe is ‘just what Nuneaton needs.’ There’s afternoon tea on offer with handmade sandwiches, pastries and scones, as well as the normal lunch offerings. If you’re looking to forego a savoury lunch for something sweet then this is the place for you. Cream on the Green in Abbey Green is a desserts parlour which serves up waffles, pancakes, ice cream and more. Although it specialises in sweet treats you can still pick up a savoury lunch while you’re there. You can also order a jacket potato if you want that as a starter, a cookie monster pancake or a Smarty Party sundae.

Pop to this Queens Road cafe for lunch to take away or eat in.

It scored a five star food hygiene rating just a few weeks ago.

Here you can get jacket potatoes, paninis and salads.

If you’ve room there are a wide selection of cakes to choose from too.
