-

TEAMS took to the fairway at Brandon Wood Golf Course and Club for the Coventry Sports Foundation Open.

A total of 44 players took part in the day in pairs to compete against each other and to help ‘putt’ into the coffers of The Brain Tumour Charity.

There were two divisions for the event day and the competitors played a Pairs Betterball Stableford.

Prizes were up for grabs for the longest drive during the event and for nearest the pin as well.

Fundraising also took place in the clubhouse with a tombola taking place and further prizes up for grabs.

Andy Adkins from Coventry Sports Foundation, which manages three leisure centres across the city – Xcel Leisure Centre, in Mitchell Avenue, the Alan Higgs Centre, in Allard Way, and Centre AT7, in Bell Green Road – said they were thrilled with how many people turned out for day and helped to raise more than £750.

“A total of 22 teams took part in the day to help raise as much money as possible for The Brain Tumour Charity,” said Andy.

“It was a massive success and after counting up the money donated we have raised around £1,000 for the charity.

“The Brain Tumour Charity is doing some fantastic work and we are so pleased with how much has been generated for the good cause.

“Coventry Sports Foundation would like to thank everyone who took part and helped to organise The Coventry Sports Foundation Open at Brandon Wood Golf Club the event, it was very much appreciated.”

Organised by our Coventry Support Group, the event featured plenty of fun and tasty refreshments, including face painting, a basket tombola, a raffle and cake stall.

The fantastic work of the Coventry Support Group and the generosity of everyone who volunteered, ran a stall and visited made this year’s fayre another record breaker raising over £600 more than last year! Our support group works tirelessly throughout the year raising funds for us and we cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and dedication. We would also like to thank everyone involved for their support which enables us to continue providing our services.

NONE of the work we do at The Myton Hospices would be possible without the support of local businesses and communities.

This year we have to raise £8.8 million to continue providing our services free of charge to the people of Coventry and Warwickshire.

With your help we can continue to expand and improve our services to ensure more people living with a terminal illness get the help and care they deserve at the time when they need it the most.

And we couldn’t be without the businesses and charitable trusts which choose to support Myton with sponsorship, grants and partnerships.

We receive less than 20 per cent of our funding from the NHS, making a strong presence in the community and support from local companies absolutely vital.

We already work with a range of organisations to help engage their staff and raise their profile, whilst together furthering their work in the local community. We know that each company or group we partner with is unique and we tailor-make our approach to enable you to get the most out of the partnership.

From corporate sponsorship opportunities to funding specific services and essential items of equipment – all support is gratefully received and Myton would love to hear from you!
