POLICE RAID UNCOVERS DEN OF DIRTY NEEDLES

- By BEN ECCLESTON Crime Reporter news@trinitymirror.com

USED needles and other drug paraphernalia were found inside a dirty and disgusting flat in Nuneaton.

Police raided the flat in Meadow Court - which has previously been reported for drugs use - after concerns were raised about more suspicious behaviour.

After forcing their way inside, officers discovered dirty, used needles scattered across the rooms, including in the sink, along with other drug-taking paraphernalia.

Warwickshire Police have now asked Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to board up the local authority-owned property.

The borough council have been contacted for comment.

The raid comes just two weeks after officers smashed their way in to another home in the town and found thousands of pounds worth of cannabis plants.

The dramatic moment that officers forced their way into the home through the garden gate and then smashing a patio door was caught on camera.

They carried out the drugs warrant at the property in Hilton Avenue at the end of June, finding a room crammed full of the plants.

A number of plants were seized as well as cultivated cannabis in herbal and resin form.

Officers claimed that the yield from the plants would have been worth between £9,000 and £12,000. Hydroponic equipment used to grow the plants was also seized from the home.

If you have any information on drug use or dealing in your area, contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
