City owners appear to be drinking in last-chance saloon...

-

Could this court case be a turning point in terms of whether Sisu decide to sell the club? I think so.

There does not seem to be any other option for them to claw back a significant amount of their losses in one effort.

If successful, they could decide to stick around and re-invest any compensation back into CCFC... but having sunk millions in only to suffer two relegations, it doesn’t seem likely?

If Sisu lose in court again, the sale of the Ryton training ground and some talented youngsters might raise a few million - but that’s unlikely to make a significant dent in Sisu’s Sky Blue black hole.

Once the major options for a return have been exhausted, why hold on to an asset you do not wish to invest further in and is causing more damage than good (both financial and reputational) to your portfolio?

As far as I can tell Sisu could pursue the legal action without owning the club, but there is an incentive to keep it at the moment - especially if it is being run on a break-even basis.

Every year, month, week, day and hour that Sisu owns Coventry City increases the amount of compensation they could claim.

The longer the club’s owners can argue they have suffered as a result of the Ricoh sale, the larger the amount of compensation they can claim.

The calculation for accumulating compensation will end on the day Sisu sells the club.

On that basis, it would probably take quite a generous offer for Sisu to walk away at this stage. So could Sisu look to sell after this court case is concluded? I think so, yes - but it could be a long wait. The last court case took almost two full years to conclude - and there’s no reason to think this one should take any less time.

We might be in lastchance saloon, but make yourself comfortable and get yourself a stiff drink... we could be here a while.
