The planned route of HS2 is wrong

-

I WOULD agree with much of Jock Brownlee’s letter (20/7/16) about HS2 and the NHS.

The NHS is the most important of our social services and is being ruined by this and past governments.

However, transport infrastructure is also very important and needs investment to help industry and jobs to pay for this. But most ‘trainspotters’ like myself think the route of HS2 is wrong.

There are many alternatives. What about using part the old Great Central route for instance? And the idea that HS2 does not make a direct connection with the end of HS1 is just plain incompetent. Malc Graham,
