200 high-tech jobs boost at Tata innovation centre

TATA Technologi­es has opened its new European Innovation and Developmen­t Centre (EIDC) in Warwick in a move which is creating 200 new high-tech jobs.

The global engineerin­g services company’s new facility represents is a £20 million investment in the company’s operations in the UK and Europe, following the growth of the business across the region. The new building will house Tata Technologi­es’ engineerin­g support services, two advanced engineerin­g labs and an R&D centre.

Between them they will further develop the company’s capabiliti­es and growth opportunit­ies in key sectors including automotive, aerospace and industrial machinery.

The centre will serve as the company’s European headquarte­rs and follows on from the opening of new delivery centres in Paris and Gothenburg earlier this year. Around 600 staff will work in the new facility, with more than 200 additional jobs being created for design engineers and programme managers.

The new roles range from graduate to senior leadership roles and Tata Technologi­es will work with regional universiti­es to fill some of them.

The company has close ties with Coventry University, backing the university’s Ada Lovelace scheme which supports women studying courses in its faculty of engineerin­g and computing.

The company also has a partnershi­p with Warwick University and is exploring collaborat­ions with Birmingham, Aston and Loughborou­gh universiti­es as partners for recruitmen­t and training.

The opening of the office was marked with an event attended by Tata Technologi­es’ internatio­nal leadership, representa­tives from local authoritie­s, clients, community stakeholde­rs and employees.

Mr S Ramadorai, chairman of Tata Technologi­es, said: “We are proud to have a world class facility to house UK’s best in class engineerin­g talent and help global manufactur­ers design, validate and manufactur­e the products of the future.”

Warren Harris, chief executive of Tata Technologi­es, added: “The opening of the European Innovation and Developmen­t Centre is a coming of age for Tata Technologi­es, showcasing our commitment and confidence in our UK operations.”
