Golfers invited to sign up for charity event

-

ORGANISERS of a new charity golf day at Stoneleigh to remember two avid fundraisers from the region are appealing for participants.

The Coventry Leofric Lions charity golf day and gala dinner takes place at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club on Thursday, September 21 in memory of David Dunbar and John Price, who both passed away in 2016. David and John were members of the Coventry Leofric Lions and Kenilworth Lions respectively, and used to organise golfing events to raise money for local charities.

Both the Coventry Leofric Lions and Kenilworth Lions are charities made up of volunteers who fundraise around £30,000 every year for causes across the region.

The event is being organised by Nick Button from Band Hatton Button Solicitors and Bill Green from Shortland Horne Estate Agents; the event is also being sponsored by both firms.

Space is available for up to 25 teams of four players to take part in the 18-hole course, followed by an evening meal.

Nick, who is also vice president of the Coventry Leofric Lions, said: “David and John went to great lengths to make a difference in both the Coventry and Kenilworth communities, so myself and Bill thought it was only right to carry on their fundraising efforts by organising this golf day.

“This is a great opportunity for people from all walks of life and business backgrounds to network in aid of a good cause.

“We’re also hoping the golf day itself will make more young people aware of the work done by the Coventry Leofric Lions and Kenilworth Lions – while we have around 30 active members, we could do with some younger people to drive both groups forward in future years.”
