Match time for squad is key for boss

-

COVENTRY City boss Mark Robins will conclude his first team pre-season programme by giving 90 minutes to as many of his 22-man squad as possible.

The Sky Blues face a double header weekend as part of a six-team tournament at Nuneaton’s Liberty Way, with games against Liverpool Under-23s on Saturday and the host club Nuneaton Town on Sunday.

And it appears that rather than play a strongest XI against the Reds’ development side and an Under-23s team against Boro the following day, City are looking at fielding two mixed age teams.

“I think we will look at probably mixing the squads up and play one team against Liverpool and one against Nuneaton to give everyone 90 minutes,” said assistant boss Steve Taylor.

“It’s about getting that match time into their legs.”

This weekend’s tournament will feature three games per day.

The schedule is as follows: Saturday, July 29, 11am, Nuneaton v Wolves XI; 2.30pm, Coventry City v Liverpool XI; 5.55pm, Glasgow Rangers XI v PSV Eindhoven Jong. Sunday, July 30, 11am, Wolves XI v Glasgow Rangers XI; 2.30pm, Liverpool XI v PSV Eindhoven Jong; 5.55pm, Nuneaton Town v Coventry City.

Ticket prices are: Adults £40, concessions £30 and under 16s £15. Alternatively there is a special one-day ticket available, priced at £25.
