Housing support charity celebrates first birthday
A CHARITY that supports people who are homeless or at risk of losing their homes is celebrating a year since its launch.
P3 Warwickshire, based at Abbey Street, Nuneaton, celebrated its first birthday with the town’s mayor on Tuesday, August 1.
Based in locations across the county, including drop-in hubs in Rugby, Stratford and Nuneaton, P3 offer housing-related floating support to assist and advise adults over the age of 25 who are struggling with housing issues or sleeping rough.
In the past year, the charity has seen more than 400 people access their three drop-in hubs.
It has also launched a Street Outreach Team, which has supported 154 rough sleepers across Warwickshire, and operated a mobile support minibus known as MAVIS which covers the more rural areas to reach people who don’t have the means to travel.
“I am so thankful and proud of how passionate our team has been this year,” said Esther Barrett, service manager for P3 Warwickshire.
“We have created excellent working relationships with our commissioners, partner agencies and the districts and boroughs, allowing us to have a joined-up approach for the benefit of all those receiving support. I am truly excited for what we can achieve in this coming year.”
The celebration event, held at P3’s Nuneaton Navigator, was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Nuneaton and Bedworth, Councillor Bill and Sheila Hancox.
He said: “As Mayor and Mayoress of Nuneaton and Bedworth, it is a real privilege for Sheila and I to be able to visit and support P3 charity on their first anniversary in the Warwickshire area.
“We have learned of their commitment and support for people who are homeless or sleeping out on the streets and wish P3 every success in these challenging times.
“We hope that others may adopt the same aspirations to help people in the community get back on their feet.”
