LOVELY BUBBLY!

DOM PERIGNON WORTH £117-A-BOTTLE GOES UNDER THE HAMMER AS PART OF POLICE AUCTION

BOOZE, toothpaste and scented candles are among a bizarre list of items seized by police and set to be auctioned off.

West Midlands Police are auctioning off a variety of items including a snowboard, a violin and an Xbox One.

But the most high-end – and low profile items – are several lots of alcohol.

One lot consists of seven bottles of Dom Perignon Vintage 2006 Champagne and two bottles of Grey Goose Vodka. No reserve price has been given, but is estimated that the bottles of champagne are worth £117 EACH.

On the other end of the scale is a plastic bag containing cans of Stella Artois, worth significantly less.

Other boozy listings set to go under the hammer at today’s Aston’s Auctioneers include an assortment of bottles, one of which being a £100 bottle of Moet.

Items for sale are either unclaimed lost property, or have been seized by West Midlands Police during investigations into crimes such as burglary, theft and fraud, and are put up for auction when the identity of the rightful owners of the property cannot be identified.

Some of the more bizarre collections are a violin, a number of scented candles and three wooden animal ornaments – two hippos and a cat.

The most valuable items are several lots of power tools and electrical equipment. A DeWalt DW721 Radial Arm Saw is estimated to be worth around £2,000-£3,000, whilst a MINI MAX Classic Sliding Table Panel Saw listed is currently onsale for £3,500 elsewhere.

With no reserves on the majority of the listings, savvy shoppers can potentially grab themselves a bargain at the auction, which starts at 11am.

Proceeds from the auction will be used to finance community initiatives.

Dudley based Aston’s Auctioneers are the officially appointed auctioneers for the West Midlands Police Authority, and regularly hold police auctions.
