THE mother of a boy who was attacked in a Nuneaton park has thanked people for their support.
The 13-year-old, named locally as Owen Jones, was left with facial injuries.
Four boys have since been arrested in connection with the attack, which happened on August 3 in George Eliot Memorial Park.
Two 13-year-old boys from Nuneaton previously arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and theft and a 14-year-old boy from Nuneaton previously arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm have all been released under investigation.
Another 13-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and theft has been released with no further action to be taken. The mother of the victim said: “We’d like to thank everyone for their kindness and generosity following the incident. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the support shown and there are too many people to thank personally.”
Officers are continuing to investigate and appeal for information.
Police Staff Investigator Neil Chorley said: “We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the victim following the event.
“Following the incident, the victim made his way from the park to the canal bridge on Donnithorne Avenue to seek help.
“There are a lot of houses in this area and given the time of day I’m sure more people will have seen the victim and may have information that could help us with our investigation.
“If you saw the victim or anyone acting suspiciously in the area then please contact us.”
