AN X FACTOR winner will be swapping a microphone for football boots as she takes part in a charity match to help a family close to her heart.

Sam Bailey will join the teams who are taking to the pitch at the Pavilion in Stockingford on Sunday, August 27 as part of ‘Jack’s Day.”

The event is being held to help raise funds towards the ‘lifechanging’ project which is being undertaken at the home of Jack Oldacres, the schoolboy who suffers from a rare and painful skin condition.

A project is under way to provide an extension to the family home for a specialist wetroom, including a hydrotherapy bath, as well as a new room for the youngster.

‘Jack’s Day’ is one of the many fund-raising events organised by his parents Danny and Julie to help pay towards the project.

The X-Factor 2013 winner first met the Oldacres back in October 2014 when she took part in a charity match held in Jack’s honour at the home of Nuneaton Town FC.

Ever since then, her friendship with the trio has bloomed and, in 2015, singer personally invited the St Paul’s Primary School pupil to join her on stage during the local leg of her nationwide ‘The Power of Love’ tour.

“We are lucky to call Sam and her family our friends,” Danny said.

“She has always been so incredibly kind to us, she’s brilliant and as soon as she found out about the football match she said she’d play, and her husband as well.”

Sam, and her husband Craig Pearson, will line up with footballers from across the town during the match at the ‘Piv,’ which is just one of several events taking place during ‘Jack’s Day.’

There will also be stalls and children’s entertainment and The Enthused will be playing in the main room from 4pm followed by the Juice Soul Band from 7pm.

To ensure that all of the funds raised on the day go towards the project, Devall and Son funeral directors has sponsored the event.

“Daniel at Devalls has always been so supportive, he has been brilliant to us and we would like to thank him and the business for their kind gesture again,” Danny said.

Anyone is welcome to join in the fun on ‘Jack’s Day’ and those who would like to set up stall on the day should contact Danny Oldacres via Facebook.
