A MOTORCYCLIST has suffered life-threatening injuries after he was thrown off his bike during a collision which closed a main Bedworth road.

The rider, who has not been identified, was yesterday in a serious condition in hospital.

The 27-year-old suffered the injuries following a collision on Leicester Road at 4.30pm on Wednesday.

Police say that the rider, who was on black Kawasaki motorbike, came into collision with a white Vauxhall Mokka and a silver Toyata Dyna.

He was thrown from his bike, which continued for a short distance before colliding with two other vehicles.

999 calls were made to the emergency services and police closed off the main road while medics from West Midlands Ambulance Service treated the biker for chest, abdominal and pelvic injuries.

A Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) was dispatched to the scene and landed at the nearby Bailey Park.

However, the injured rider was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire via land ambulance at 5.11pm.

The road remained closed for several hours as the police investigation got underway.

A witness appeal has been launched for anyone with any information about the collision, or who saw the vehicles prior to the collision, to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 276 of August 23. Details can also be passed on to officers via the Crimestoppers hotline, which is free to call on 0800 555 111.
